Since I doubt this will make the headlines or the front page of Reddit, here's a story for your reading pleasure:
"Brains of Vegetative Patients Show Life" - L.A. Times
The summary is that scientists have discovered a new way of interacting with patients that were deemed to be in a persistent vegitative state. 5 of 54 of the patients were able to demonstrate awareness and one was even able to respond 'yes' or 'no'.
Also, has anyone in California seen this attack ad? It's far from the ideal in moral politics but mildly amusing and pretty strong in its persuasive ability. Never seen anything like it, though. The red eyes are a nice touch.
